In 1940 the directory lists Mrs I R Elder at 884 Bute Street. The 1940 name section lists Ivy R Elder there as the householder, widow of A, with William Elder.

In 1940 the directory lists T P Elder at 843 Cardero Street. The 1940 name section lists Thomas P Elder there as the householder, a barrister. In 1940 the directory lists Dr R Elder at 1235 Devonshire Crescent; the 1940 line is marked *: some member of the family owns the property, to the best of our knowledge (the directory's own mark). T P Elder, a barrister, is listed at 570 Dunsmuir Street in 1940.

The 1940 name section lists John K Elder at 3420 Victoria Drive, a clerk at Gault Bros, with Kathleen V Elder, an operator at the BC Telephone, and Thomas D Elder, a salesman at Safeway.

777 Burrard, 884 Bute, 843 Cardero, 1235 Devonshire Crescent, 570 Dunsmuir, 1755 East 13th, 318 Homer, 4241 West 13th and 3818 West 15th still have their buildings from before 1946, 884 Bute and 4241 West 13th on the Vancouver Heritage Register; the City no longer lists 658 East 10th, 5937 Fraser, 718 Granville, 619 Smithe, 3420 Victoria Drive, 3025 West 10th, 1422 West 11th, 1736 West 11th, 1768 West 11th and 528 West 28th, so those buildings are probably gone (inferred).
