What they did
The name section prints a trade for ten of the 15: a school teacher (3), a fireman (2), an assistant, a manager, a manufacturers agent and a nurse, among others. Four of them worked for Vancouver City. Two are widows, listed under their own names.
Their neighbourhoods
The addresses are in Kitsilano (2), Shaughnessy (2), Downtown, Mount Pleasant, Renfrew-Collingwood, Riley Park, West End and West Point Grey. Each neighbourhood's page shows its trades, its people and every street in it, the way the directory printed them.

In 1940 the directory lists C W Creelman at 4669 Earles Street. The 1940 name section, where each person's work is printed, lists Charles W Creelman there as the householder, a fireman at the City of Vancouver. In 1940 the directory lists H C Creelman at 172 East 24th Avenue; the 1940 line is marked *: some member of the family owns the property, to the best of our knowledge (the directory's own mark). The 1940 name section lists Harry C Creelman there as the householder, a fireman at the City of Vancouver.
In 1940 the directory lists W W Creelman, a manufacturers agent, at 751 Granville Street. Mrs L H Creelman is listed at 1675 Laurier Avenue in 1940; the 1940 line is marked * too. The 1940 name section lists Lenora H Creelman there as the householder, widow of A.

The 1940 name section lists Stan T Creelman there as the householder, a manager at the Home Service, with Harry Creelman, retired, Helen Creelman, a school teacher, and Mabel L Creelman, a nurse for Dr A M Agnew. In 1940 the directory lists R Creelman at 2676 West 4th Avenue.
Today
172 East 24th, 1675 Laurier, 4611 Marguerite and 435 West 14th still have their buildings from before 1946, 1675 Laurier on the Vancouver Heritage Register; 4669 Earles (2011), 1454 Pendrell (1968), 1926 West 12th (2007) and 4592 West 2nd (2004) have newer buildings, by the City's record; the City no longer lists 751 Granville and 2676 West 4th, so those buildings are probably gone (inferred).

Sources
Henderson's and successor city directories for Vancouver, read by us line by line: the street sections for 1905, 1915, 1925, 1935, 1940 and 1945, and the name section for 1930 and 1940 where we've read it (Vancouver Public Library, BC City Directories). Names are shown through 1945, as printed. Close spellings are grouped, as on the house pages, since a family's name was often spelled differently from one year to the next; one name can still be several families, and we join lines only where the first names or initials agree. Many Chinese, Japanese and other residents weren't named by the canvassers, so they can't be listed by name: their houses' pages say where. More family names under C. Want a name removed? Tell us.
