In 1940 the directory lists W Ramsey at 1416 East 21st Avenue. The 1940 name section, where each person's work is printed, lists William Vivian Ramsey there as the householder, a plasterer. The 1940 name section lists Ramsey at 1336 Granville Street.

E G Ramsey is listed at 3025 Hemlock Street in 1940. The 1940 name section lists Earl G Ramsey there as the householder, an engineer. J Ramsey is listed at 4138 Knight Street in 1940; the 1940 line is marked *: some member of the family owns the property, to the best of our knowledge (the directory's own mark). The 1940 name section lists Jeremiah Ramsey there as the householder, a laborer.

The 1940 name section lists Jessie Ramsey at 1737 Matthews Avenue, a cook for E S Glaspie. The 1940 name section lists Albert F Ramsey at 3986 Slocan Street, a porter, with Harold T Ramsey, a porter at the CPR. E Ramsey is listed at 1816 West 11th Avenue in 1940. The 1940 name section lists Edward Ramsey there as the householder, a painter at the Vancouver General Hospital.

The 1940 name section lists Frank Ramsey at 2551 West 35th Avenue, a clerk at P O. The 1940 name section lists P B Hamilton Ramsey at 2938 West 44th Avenue as the householder, retired. The 1940 name section lists J S Ramsey at 1025 West Pender Street.

Today

1737 Matthews and 1816 West 11th still have their buildings from before 1946, 1737 Matthews on the Vancouver Heritage Register; 3986 Slocan (1976), 2551 West 35th (1986) and 2938 West 44th (2015) have newer buildings, by the City's record; the City no longer lists 1416 East 21st, 1336 Granville, 3025 Hemlock, 4138 Knight and 1025 West Pender, so those buildings are probably gone (inferred).

Henderson's and successor city directories for Vancouver, read by us line by line: the street sections for 1905, 1915, 1925, 1935, 1940 and 1945, and the name section for 1930 and 1940 where we've read it (Vancouver Public Library, BC City Directories). Names are shown through 1945, as printed. Close spellings are grouped, as on the house pages, since a family's name was often spelled differently from one year to the next; one name can still be several families, and we join lines only where the first names or initials agree.
