The house today
2550 Balaclava Street still has a building from before 1946, as does 2544 next door; its permit dates from 1912 and the City's record from 1914, so it is very likely the wood-frame building Goad's 1912 map draws on the lot (inferred). A permit to build four houses at 2532, 2538, 2544 and 2550 Balaclava, this one among them, was taken out in March 1912 by Ltd Vernon Bros, owner and builder: $12,000 for the four.
