The building today

The building the 1940 directory knew is gone: the City dates the building at 1237 now to 1999; no building from before 1946 is left on the 1200 block of Burrard Street, and across the street the City dates 1242's to 2003. A permit to build a three-storey brick veneer building was taken out in April 1911 by R Y Blackhall, owner and builder: architect R V Pushaw, $18,000.
